Biology P5

Today we're going to be working on the next assignment, which is about ways people can put their health at risk. You need to produce a powerpoint with one slide each for -

• Smoking
• Obesity
• Not getting vaccinated
• Alcohol

For each factor, explain what it is, what other problems it causes and how many people it kills each year. You should also include a photo or diagram on each slide so people know what you're referring to.

Biology P1

The image below will help you create a poster for P1 in Biology. You need to show how chromosomes, genes, and DNA are organised in a cell, and write a sentence about what each one does. This can be done on A3 paper or as a powerpoint.                                            

Assignments

Today we are going to make sure that we've finished off P8 for physics (about Ohm's Law) and P1 for Biology (questions on the Golden Lion Tamarin). If you haven't done both of these, use the questions this page to do them now, then hand them in.

If you've already done both of these assignments, complete the following questions on DNA, which we will be using for an assignment after Christmas:

1. Complete this activity, writing down where DNA is located in the cell. 
2. Which things have DNA in them?
3. What are some similarities between you and a plant in terms of DNA?

Golden Lion Tamarins - P1

Today we're going to start work on the next assignment task for Biology.  You already have the assignment sheet from doing P2 about snakes, this section is about a monkey called the Golden Lion Tamarin.
Answer the following in a word document:

1. How many Golden Lion Tamarins are there in the wild?
2. Why has it become endangered?
3. What animals depend on it for food? What would happen to them if it became extinct?
4.  What impact would it’s extinction have on the plants it eats?
5.  What actions that can be put in place to stop the decline of the species?

Ohm's Law P8

Today we're going to start working on the electricity assignment for physics.  Complete the following on paper, then hand it in with a plastic pocket:

1. Draw a circuit diagram with the parts listed on the assignment sheet. Use the symbols as shown on this page.
2. Use some photos from the shared area to show how different circuits are made (copy and paste these into a word document).
3. Write down the equation from this interactive, then use it to solve the first 3 questions that follow. Write the working out as well as the answers.

Make sure you name all your sheets and keep them in the plastic pocket you are given.

Today we're going to get ready for teh next assignment which we'll complete in class next week. Answer the following in yoru books:

4. Draw the symbols for a battery, light bulb, ammeter and voltmeter
5. What do series and parallel circuits mean?
6. How do ammeters get connected to a circuit?
7. Show what a voltmeter connected to a circuit should look like using circuit symbols (use the link above):
8. What is the unit for resistance?
9. How could you calculate the resistance in a circuit?
10. Try this activity, or try and complete the one from last week!
